Let me be clear while also keeping things short and sweet: Open workout 20.2 was simply brutal! The workout consisted of the following:
AMRAP in 20 minutes of:
4 dumbbell thrusters (50 lbs./35 lbs.)
6 toes to bar
I did the workout Rx and was praying for 10 rounds. Turns out, 10 rounds would have been a miracle. I finished with 5 + 4. The dumb bell thrusters could not have felt heavier – thank goodness there were just 4 reps per round. I did singles on my toes to bar because I’m not quite to performing the movement consecutively, and then the double-unders: well, need I really talk about the double-unders? They are mythical and come and go seemingly with no reason. Put sets of 24 into a long grinding workout like this, and you’ll be left breathless. Double-unders will destroy both your confidence and self-respect! I ended up performing my double-unders 2 to 5 reps at a time which ended up taking a LONG time! Overall, Open workout 20.2 left me breathless from the get-go. It was a humbling experience. Despite this, I remain optimistic. In the last month, I have really focused on double-unders and gaining strength and technique in performing toes to bar. Each day, I dedicate 10-20 minutes to practice each and, I really look forward to repeating this workout in 6 months!
